Welcome!
by Brenna Gelormine
If you’re anything like me, you are an animal lover, avid hiker, and have an intense passion for the environment. Okay, maybe you aren’t that granola. But hopefully you are here reading this because you care about your carbon footprint, and especially about the impact your actions have on the environment.
Sustainability is a growing “trend” in society… but what does it mean?
One of the most common definitions of sustainability is “environmentally-conscious practices”. I prefer to use my own curated definition of sustainability: “preserving the environment with ecologically-friendly practices and reducing the amount of resources used”.
In even simpler terms, using less is worth even more in the long run.
This may seem like a daunting task, but I’m here to tell you: it’s not. You don’t have to change your entire lifestyle in a matter of days in order to make a difference. In fact, doing so would not make anything better; your own well being is the priority, and studies have shown that a drastic lifestyle change is not prone to lasting very long anyway. Small changes like setting a timer while you shower and unplugging appliances when they are not in use can do SO MUCH!
Throughout this blog, I will explain how I work in as many sustainable practices into my life as possible, along with sharing resources that I find helpful for making the most out of as little as possible. I hope to see you join me on this journey.
