Mighty oaks from small acorns grow...

Sustainability Matters’ funder support levels (Acorn, Sapling, Oak Tree, and Forest) are inspired by our signature tree, the oak (Quercus spp.) Oaks are not only majestic icons of growth, but according to studies by entomologist Douglas Tallamy and colleagues, host of more biodiversity than any other tree genus. Tallamy measured biodiversity by caterpillars, the lowest protein source on the food chain. Oaks host a whopping 900 caterpillar species. Yum.
