Join the Sperryville Community Alliance, Sustainability Matters, and Wild Roots Apothecary for the Rappahannock Butterfly Parade on Saturday, August 29, at 10 a.m. Celebrate the beauty of nature with a day of creativity, community, and fun for all ages!
We’ll gather in the historic River District at 3 River Lane, where we'll kick off the celebration with a Pollinator Parade at 10:30 a.m, with wing-crafting at 10am. Stroll along the Sperryville Trail as we honor the native plants and pollinators that make our landscapes vibrant and alive. Come dressed as your favorite part of the natural world—we welcome butterflies, bees, bats, hummingbirds, flowers, mighty oak trees, or simply your wonderful self or stop by and create your own pair of butterfly wings.
Thanks to generous support from the PATH Foundation, you'll find free, family-friendly activities throughout the River District all day long. Bring the whole family and join us for a joyful celebration of the pollinators and plants that help our community thrive!

Join Colleen O'Bryant — gardener at love, wild botanical gardens & herbalist at Wild Roots Apothecary — for a walk through love, wild botanical gardens, our home base of pollinator joy in Rappahannock County. Our layered beds of medicinal herbs, native pollinator plants, and pretty flowers are crafted to attract, feed, and welcome the full life cycle into our little world.
The tour begins 1 p.m. for a 45–60 minute stroll through the gardens as we explore the plants, our planting methods, and the joyful connections between plants and pollinators.
Making Trash Bloom in Rappahannock County
As part of the Rappahannock Butterfly Parade day, come learn about Making Trash Bloom at the Rappahannock County landfill. Native plant expert Jack Monsted from the State Arboretum of Virginia will share how the wildflowers and grasses are making a real difference for butterflies, bees, birds, and other wildlife -- and how you can help.
Join us at 2pm at Copper Fox Distillery for the talk. A discounted Pollinator Themed Cocktail Menu will be available for attendees.
