Watch our website grow…

It’s all paws (and wings) on deck for our new website. Some pretty talented humans are working on it too.

Sustainability Matters is almost four years old, and growing beyond all our expectations. “When are you guys finally getting a website?” has become a familiar refrain. From the beginning, though, we’ve only done what what our ambitious volunteer team and our one full-time staff member felt we could do really, really well. So we were active on almost every social media platform, developed an engaged email list, and waited on the website.

Our website time is NOW. Thanks to an amazing squad of design and web development professionals, all volunteering their time and brilliance for this project, we’ve begun building a virtual home worthy of our unique, multi-faceted organization. Our (human) design team couldn’t get more diverse: coming to us from London and Lebanon, Australia and Vladivostok, Brooklyn, Denver, DC, Atlanta, and right here in the Shenandoah Valley, they bring a wealth of experience in custom coding, SEO and accessibility, visual design, video editing, graphic illustration, and animation.

Join us to watch the website grow. We’ve started with the basics: an organizational overview for those new to SM, and easy access to events, membership, and volunteering for friends both new and old. We’ll be adding deep dives into our team, our funders, and more. The programs section - representing dozens of events per year and associated resources, as well as flagship projects like Making Trash Bloom - will grow organically, in between our, well, actually doing all that programming. Watch the design level up as the pros get to work, and keep an eye out for snazzily-edited videos, custom illustrations, SM swag for sale, and possibly even an animated version of SM’s official spokescat, Haym, or #rescuerooster, Hans van Cranberry!
