Help us make trash bloom - join the Sustainability Matters Science Team!

We are working with landfills to replace invasive grasses on closed trash cells with native pollinator habitat. We need your help! In order to get more landfills involved across the country, we need data to show that these plantings are working and refine the pilot techniques.

We are seeking volunteers to help collect data on the success of our native plantings at landfills:

  • Learn to identify native and non-native meadow plants

  • Learn to use the iNaturalist app to help with plant identification

  • Learn to use a quadrat for ecological sampling

  • Enjoy time outside at the prettiest landfill sites in our region (no, really!)

Each Saturday session will start with a training - no experience necessary. Ability to walk and bend on hilly terrain a must. Wear long pants, sturdy shoes, sun hat. Use of a smartphone with free iNaturalist app required. Come for one date, or all! We hope you will join the team for lunch afterwards.

Registration Required: email hannah@sustainabilitymatters.earth for details.
