Join us to seed a native meadow in Winchester!

After two years of planning and preparation, we finally have a date to seed the Sustainability Matters Native Meadow in Winchester’s Jim Barnett Park! Join us and our partners, Winchester’s Parks and Recreation Department, on Sunday, April 14, from 2-4pm for a seeding party! We’ll have snacks, kids’ activities, free seeds to take home, a raffle, and more. Feel free to come dressed as your favorite pollinator or native flower!

Everything we do for the environment impacts future generations. In honor of that, we’d love for young people to help us seed the meadow. If you’re a teacher or a parent, please bring your students!

Registration is required, so we know how many people to plan for. Please dress appropriately to be outdoors and bring your own chair. Rain date: Saturday, April 20. Keep an eye on your email on Sunday morning; we’ll let you know if we need to reschedule.

Call for Photographers & Videographers

Over the years, Sustainability Matters has been grateful to have several amazing photographers and videographers volunteer at our events. Their professional photos and videos have enabled us to share visually compelling stories with the public, our partners, and donors; they’ve even helped us earn more than $70,000 through the video-based fundraiser, Project for Awesome! (Thanks Elise, Tarik, Kate, Parker, and others!) Now that we’re ramping up our work in Winchester and Fairfax County/Northern Virginia, we’re recruiting for more photography and videography volunteers. If you’re a professionally trained photographer or videographer in Winchester or NoVa and would like to volunteer with us, please get in touch!

Shenandoah Valley’s Route 11 Chips has been a longtime supporter of Sustainability Matters, and we were thrilled for the chance to take a behind the scenes look at their production process. They prioritize sustainability and minimize food waste each step of the way. Somehow, this tour made us fall even more in love with their delicious kettle-cooked chips!
